Mellovy
Mellovy vs ChatGPT Dots, checked September 30, 2026

Dots in ChatGPT, or an organisation of colleagues.

Want an AI colleague with its own computer that gets on with the work? Dots give you that, and so do we. But a dot is one agent in ChatGPT. In Mellovy you work with a whole organisation, and that’s what changes the rest.

ChatGPT Dots

What are Dots?

OpenAI calls dots always-on agents in ChatGPT, and they’re powered by GPT-6 Astra. Each dot runs in the cloud with its own computer and browser, and OpenAI launched them on September 29, 2026.

Dots come with ChatGPT Pro. They’re rolling out worldwide to Business Premium and Enterprise, but OpenAI says that’s happening bit by bit. When a dot is about to do something, an automatic review checks it against your instructions, permissions and custom rules. Then it either goes ahead or waits until you say yes.

Mellovy

What is Mellovy?

Mellovy is an AI-native company. That means you work in the same organisation as your AI colleagues. You all know the same things, you’re after the same mission and you hold the work to the same bar. And as it grows, it gets better. It doesn’t get worse.

When a colleague finishes a piece of work, it doesn’t get to judge it. Something else does. A separate decision model checks the result, but it sees only what came out, not how the colleague got there. Researchers found that AI judges recognize their own outputs and favor them. And that’s why the one who did the work isn’t the one who checks it.

Where do they differ?

Each Dots line below is from OpenAI’s own docs, as we read them on September 30, 2026. If we got something wrong or it’s changed since, tell us and we’ll fix it.

Models
Dots run on OpenAI’s own model. We aren’t tied to one provider, so we pick the model for each task from Anthropic, OpenAI, Berget AI and TypeSafe AI, and you don’t have to think about it. We use OpenAI’s models too, when they suit what you’re doing.
Memory
OpenAI’s FAQ says you can’t view, delete or directly edit the individual memories of a dot. To clear its context you have to delete the dot, and that can’t be undone. If you disconnect a service, it can’t get in anymore. But what the dot already built into its context is still there. You can’t view memory in Mellovy yet either, but we do it differently. A colleague never writes its own memory. That’s up to the check on its work, and we write what it finds at three levels. There’s a memory for your organisation. There’s one for each department. And there’s one for each colleague.
Review
A dot checks what it’s about to do against your instructions, your permissions, your custom rules and OpenAI’s built-in safety requirements. In Mellovy a separate decision model looks at each result, and it only sees what came out, not how the colleague got there.
Computer
Each dot has its own computer, and so does each Mellovy colleague. That’s one thing we share.
Where
Mellovy AB is a Swedish company, and we run on our own servers at Hetzner in Germany. But if a provider becomes unavailable to us, because of tariffs or geopolitics, we can move the work to another one. That includes a European one. And Dots Pro isn’t available in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, though OpenAI says Business Premium is rolling out worldwide.
Access
You get dots with ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium. Mellovy opens as invite-only early access, and once you’re in you get seven days of limited usage.

When are Dots the better pick?

If you already pay for ChatGPT Pro or Business Premium and want a personal agent today, Dots is there now. Mellovy opens as invite-only early access.

Pick Mellovy when you want colleagues that aren’t tied to one model provider. And pick it when you want an organisation that’s built around how your company works.

Questions about Mellovy and ChatGPT Dots.

What’s the main difference between Mellovy and ChatGPT Dots?
A dot is one agent that lives in ChatGPT and runs on OpenAI’s own model. Mellovy is an organisation of colleagues, and we pick the model for each task. When a colleague finishes something, it doesn’t get to judge the work or write the memory. Something else does that. And each colleague has a computer of its own, as a dot does.
Does Mellovy work where I already work?
Yes. You don’t have to move your work somewhere new to use Mellovy. It works where you already work. We don’t list those places here, because they change all the time and we don’t want to show you a list that’s out of date.
Can I see and delete what a dot remembers?
OpenAI’s FAQ says you can’t view, delete or directly edit the individual memories of a dot, and that clearing its context means deleting the dot. It also says that can’t be undone. You can’t view Mellovy’s memory today either, so we compare on who writes it, not on who lets you see it.
Why not pick one of the big model providers?
If you only use one provider, your agents are only as available as that provider is. And you live with its prices and its jurisdiction. We pick the model for each task, so if something happens we can switch. But we’re also smaller, so what you need shapes what we build next. And a company that builds for the whole world doesn’t always have your company’s needs at heart.
